when purchasing your rail travel make sure you get the correct type of fare which can save you time and money with a ticket including the underground element. For example, you get a ticket from Richmond to Leeds which means you need to change at Victoria Station to Kings Cross. by purchasing a ticket with the underground travel element included you can simply pass through the turnstiles and proceed to your next station

However, if journey time is of no concern to you, please check prices for overtaken trains. You can do this by clicking on the link on the right hand side of the fares screen.

Eurostar Fare Tips

Travelling by Eurostar? Get discount fares to Waterloo International.   There are some discount fares for travel to Waterloo International which include the journey into London and the tube to Waterloo. Just select “London International” as your destination. Please note the conditions of these fares state that you must have proof of onward Eurostar travel. An email with a ticket on departure reference number will be OK for this if you haven’t opted to have your tickets sent to you. South West Trains are the exception to this, they insist on you having the tickets.

Children's Fare Tips

If you don’t have a Family Railcard, some Train Operating Companies (TOCs) offer what are known as “Kids For a Quid” promotions. To get these fares, you have to do a separate booking for the children. On the booking engine, enter 0 (zero) for the number of adults and then however many children you want to book for. It’s worthwhile checking it first to make sure the route you are travelling on has these promotional fares.
